I’ve been a volunteer firefighter from my bachelor days, starting out with CFA in the Leitchville Fire Brigade and then transferring to Sunbury Fire Brigade due to work changes.

My first stair climb was in 2019 and my fundraising was very simple – asking friends and family to chip in.

The problem is I won my age group and this gave me a bit of a bug to see if I could do it again.

The along came 2020 and 2021 and the stair climbs were suspended with the pandemic.

Then with my next effort being in 2022, I used my business to generate the lion’s share of funds, with less emphasis on family and friends, although they did kick in.
